Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A housewife in Khayrashol, Birbhum, has accused a man of repeatedly raping her over two years by threatening to blow her up with a bomb. She alleged that the accused also tortured her by threatening to kill her husband. The woman claimed that the accused repeated the crime last week as well. Following this, she and her husband approached the police and lodged a written complaint at the Khayrashol police station.
In their complaint, they have claimed that the accused is a BJP leader. As soon as the Khayrashol incident came to light, political turmoil erupted in the district. The ruling party has targeted the saffron camp over the incident. However, the BJP claims that the party has no connection with the accused.
On Monday, the woman's confidential statement was recorded in the Dubrajpur court. The investigation is ongoing. District Superintendent of Police, Amandeep, stated that a written complaint has been filed, and all aspects of the case are being investigated.
According to the woman's family, the accused is from the local area. Sources suggest that the accused was friends with the victim’s husband and had easy access to their home. Allegedly, around two years ago, in the absence of the woman's husband, the accused entered their house with a bomb and made sexual advances. He threatened that if she did not comply, he would kill her husband. Following this, he raped the woman.
The matter recently came to light when the woman's husband informed the villagers. Allegedly, they were threatened even at that time. Later, the woman was assaulted again. The bride claims that the accused is a local BJP leader and has also been accused of murder. The victim stated, "He used to rape me by threatening to kill my husband."
Her husband added, "He had been torturing my wife for two years by threatening her. My wife could not bear it any longer and told me everything. A few days ago, he again terrorized her by showing her a bomb. He even threatened my children."
However, Dubrajpur MLA Anup Saha stated that the party has no connection with the accused, claiming that he is affiliated with Trinamool. He asserted that if the accused is found guilty, legal action should be taken, as the party does not support such incidents.
District Trinamool Vice President Malay Mukherjee questioned, "Where are those who marched on the streets demanding justice for the RG Kar incident today?" He alleged that many BJP supporters are notorious criminals and engage in wrongful activities from time to time. He urged the police to conduct an impartial investigation and ensure strict punishment.
